FT Minister Reminds Malaysian On Cleanliness For Merdeka Celebration After World Cup Disaster
Visitors attending the 2026 National Day celebration at Dataran Putrajaya have been urged to maintain cleanliness and dispose of rubbish properly to avoid a repeat of the waste problem seen after the recent FIFA World Cup final gathering at Dataran Merdeka.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh said cleanliness was a shared responsibility and should not be left solely to the Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) after an event ends.
“Imagine coming to celebrate National Day, but when we leave, the area is filled with rubbish. I do not think that is appropriate, and I urge everyone to dispose of waste at the designated places,” she said after officiating the MADANI Kita (PMK) 2026 programme with the Putrajaya community on Saturday.
