South Korea Exports Surge As AI Chip Demand Drives Growth

Exports rose 62.8% from a year earlier to US$98.89 billion, marking the second-largest annual increase since the current export surge began in mid-2025. Semiconductors remained the key driver, with shipments jumping 179% as demand for memory chips strengthened.

The technology sector also provided further support. Computer exports surged 404% as companies expanded investment in AI infrastructure, while shipments to major markets gained pace. Exports to China rose 96%, while those to the United States increased 69%.
