The 32-year-old, who won the 62kg event gold medal in 2018 and 61kg event gold medal in 2022, said he was spurred to do even better after matching former national weightlifter Amirul Hamizan Ibrahim’s tally of two Commonwealth Games gold medals.
“So far, there has yet to be a Malaysian weightlifter who has won three consecutive gold medals at the Commonwealth Games. So I will try to create history by winning a third gold medal. That’s my dream and it inspires me,” he said today.
