PETALING JAYA : Police have arrested 12 policemen, including several officers, for allegedly attempting to extort around RM2 million from a Chinese national in Kuala Lumpur. Dang Wangi police chief Sazalee Adam confirmed the arrests, which reportedly included a deputy superintendent and an assistant superintendent, Harian Metro reported.
It is unclear why the Chinese national had been detained by the policemen, but he was reportedly released after paying them US$140,000, or about RM560,000, though they had initially demanded that he pay RM2 million.
