Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has recently previewed two cars that it will be selling in the local market soon. These are the hybrid CLA 200 and the electric GLC 300. The former is noted to be locally assembled in Pekan, Pahang. This model is also related to the CLA 250+ EV that was launched last month. That being said, the company has not locked in a launch date for either of the previewed models just yet. Ditto their prices, but the company does provide an estimate for now.
With its hybrid drivetrain, Mercedes-Benz says that the hybrid CLA 200 has a fuel consumption of around five litres per 100km. The 22kW electric motor can work on its own in “typically gentle town driving”, doing what the company calls “electric sailing”, or “efficient coasting with a decoupled drivetrain”. Despite the words used to describe this capability, it can still do 100 km/h this way. The motor also features the ability to recuperate energy in all eight gears, recovering up to 25 kW of energy for its 1.3 kWh battery.
