National unity minister says Orang Asal heritage part of Malaysia’s national identity, not separate

In a Facebook post marking the 2026 International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples today, he said efforts to empower indigenous communities should move in tandem with national development without allowing their languages, customs and traditional knowledge to become marginalised.

He said the country’s progress should provide more opportunities for indigenous youth to excel in education, the economy and leadership while preserving their cultural roots and identity.
