Malaysia targets 50pct of OGSE revenue from exports by 2030
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia aims to raise exports to account for 50 per cent of the oil and gas services and equipment (OGSE) industry's revenue by 2030, as it pushes more local companies into overseas markets, Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said.
Akmal said greater internationalisation was necessary to strengthen the resilience of the sector by diversifying its markets, customers and revenue streams.
The push is particularly important for smaller OGSE players, given that 91.6 per cent of the industry's 2,894 establishments were micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in 2023, he said at the launch of MPRC's International Market Access Programme (IMAP) Privet OGSE Turkmenistan here today.
