Tabung Haji RCI recommends no active politicians on board
KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into Tabung Haji (TH) has recommended barring active politicians from serving as the institution's chairman, board members or directors of its subsidiaries, saying appointments should instead be based on professional qualifications and expertise.
The commission recommended clear eligibility requirements for appointments to the TH board, including minimum qualifications, experience and competency criteria, to ensure the institution is led by individuals with the necessary expertise.
It said the existing Act only requires board members to be Malaysian citizens and Muslims, without prescribing any professional qualifications or experience.
