GEORGE TOWN: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) detained an Indonesian fishing vessel yesterday for allegedly encroaching into Malaysian waters and fishing without permission.

The unregistered wooden vessel was detected by the Penang MMEA during a routine patrol by KM Semilang.
Penang Maritime director Maritime Captain Muhammad Suffi Mohd Ramli said the vessel was intercepted at 11.20am, about 38 nautical miles southwest of Pulau Kendi.
