Anwar praises Maldivian president for taking principled stand on Palestine
MALÉ: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim praised Maldivian President Dr Mohamed Muizzu for taking a principled stand on the Palestinian issue, saying Malaysia and the Maldives shared broadly similar foreign policy positions, particularly on Gaza.
He said both countries remained deeply concerned over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where the killings and destruction of Palestinians had continued despite calls for human rights and democracy by the international community.
"I appreciate the stance taken by the president and the motive in government, and we will continue to do our move to assist because this is an issue not only close our hearts, but it's justice and freedom," Anwar said in a joint press conference with Muizzu, here, today.
