Thai defence minister briefs Malaysian counterpart on southern security situation

The meeting held in Kuala Lumpur, came a day after Bangkok suspended peace talks with the southern insurgent group, which had been scheduled to take place in Malaysia in September.

"The Thai side briefed its Malaysian counterpart on the progress of ongoing efforts and reiterated its commitment to advancing the peace-building process while ensuring the safety and security of the people, improving their quality of life, and fostering greater confidence among all stakeholders," Thai Defence Ministry said in a statement.
