MSMEs with annual revenue below RM3mil exempt from e-Invoicing: LHDN
The higher threshold, effective Sept 1, is expected to ease compliance costs and administrative burdens for more than 1.1 million businesses.
KUALA LUMPUR — Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with annual revenue below RM3 million will be exempt from e-Invoicing requirements following the Government’s decision to raise the implementation threshold from RM1 million. The Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) said the revised threshold would take effect on Sept 1, in line with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s announcement during the 2026 National Day Prime Minister’s Address today, Bernama reported. “The announcement also benefits more than 1.1 million businesses that are exempted. "The MADANI government's initiative reflects its concern in easing the compliance burden and costs borne by MSMEs, while giving businesses more room to focus on sustaining and expanding their operations," it said in a statement. LHDN said the Government continued to encourage MSMEs to adopt e-Invoicing voluntarily as part of the country’s broader efforts to accelerate business digitalisation. The agency added that it would continue supporting taxpayers through educational programmes, hand-holding initiatives and ongoing engagement sessions to facilitate the transition. “The initiative also includes guides and tutorials on using the MyInvois Portal, MyInvois application and MyInvois e-POS to enhance awareness and understanding of e-Invoice implementation among MSMEs,” it said. Since the e-Invoicing system was introduced on Aug 1, 2024, a total of 265,379 taxpayers have submitted more than 1.84 billion e-Invoices, according to LHDN. It said the figures demonstrated strong acceptance of e-Invoicing among taxpayers, including MSMEs, as part of efforts to digitalise business operations and ensure transactions are properly recorded and stored. Further information on e-Invoice implementation is available through LHDN’s e-Invoice microsite. Taxpayers may also seek assistance through LHDN’s dedicated e-Invoice channels, including its offices, the e-Invoice Helpdesk at 03-8682 8000 and MyInvois Live Chat. General enquiries can be submitted via email at myinvois@hasil.gov.my or through the MyInvois Customer Feedback Form. - August 30, 2026 The post MSMEs with annual revenue below RM3mil exempt from e-Invoicing: LHDN appeared first on Scoop .
