Farhash fires fresh legal salvo at Rafizi over YouTube remarks
The businessman is taking the former economy minister to court over a podcast touching on political links and government contracts
KUALA LUMPUR – Businessman Datuk Seri Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak has initiated legal action against former Economy Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Rafizi Ramli over statements allegedly defamatory to him in a YouTube podcast. Farhash’s lawyer, Datuk Seri Rajan Navaratnam, said a writ of summons and statement of claim were filed yesterday following the publication of a podcast titled ‘Dari Umno ke PKR: Zetrix – Kerajaan Bertukar, Kroni Berpindah? | YBM #68’ on Rafizi’s YouTube channel on October 16. The podcast, which runs for approximately three hours and 14 minutes, allegedly discussed Farhash’s business interests, corporate relationships and connections with certain political figures, as well as issues involving cronyism and government contract awards. “The court documents are being served on Rafizi in accordance with the prescribed procedures,” he said, as reported by BH. According to the statement, this is the second legal action Farhash has taken against the former Pandan MP. “My client maintains that the repeated publication of allegedly defamatory statements against him is claimed to be malicious and damaging to his reputation. “Our client takes such allegations seriously and maintains that claims of this nature must be addressed through the proper legal process and determined based on the evidence and applicable law, leaving the matter to the court to decide,” he said. In August 2025, media reports said Rafizi had been given 48 hours to issue a public apology, retract and remove his statements about Farhash, or face legal action. The demand was made through a cease-and-desist letter sent on August 22, 2025, by law firm Ahmad Deniel, Ruben & Co on Farhash’s behalf. On October 10, 2025, Farhash subsequently filed a defamation suit against Rafizi over two videos uploaded to social media. The lawsuit was filed through the same law firm after Rafizi allegedly failed to apologise for the statements made in the videos, which Farhash claimed were defamatory. Farhash is seeking RM10 million in general damages, along with aggravated, exemplary and punitive damages, as well as legal costs. – October 24, 2026 The post Farhash fires fresh legal salvo at Rafizi over YouTube remarks appeared first on Scoop .
