Bersatu, Syed Saddiq among MPs signing deal to back Budget 2027
Muhyiddin Yassin says the confidence and supply agreement with the MADANI Government aims to ensure political stability and support key institutional reforms, but insists Bersatu remains in the opposition
KUALA LUMPUR – Parti Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and several opposition MPs today signed a Confidence and Supply Agreement (CSA) with the MADANI Government, pledging support for the passage of Budget 2027. The agreement was signed at Parliament House by Muhyiddin, Bersatu vice-presidents Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin and Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, and the party’s MPs Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah (Langkawi) and Datuk Ali Biju (Saratok). Other signatories were Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman of MUDA, Datuk Dr Zulkafperi Hanapi (Tanjung Karang), Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal (Bukit Gantang) and Zahari Kechik (Jeli). The ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, and the Prime Minister’s Senior Political Adviser Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, representing the government. Beyond securing support for Budget 2027, the CSA commits the participating MPs to backing key government initiatives, including institutional reforms to limit the Prime Minister’s tenure to a maximum of two terms and separate the roles of the Attorney-General and Public Prosecutor. Speaking to the media after the signing, Muhyiddin said the agreement followed a similar model of cooperation established during the administration of former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob. “The sole objective is to foster greater national stability and to manage critical matters affecting the people, particularly the economy, the cost of living and other related issues. “This agreement will help ensure stability, enabling the government to manage the country in a more orderly manner,” he said. However, Muhyiddin stressed that the agreement did not mean Bersatu was joining the government. He said the party would remain in the opposition and continue to play its role in providing checks and balances. - October 29, 2026 The post Bersatu, Syed Saddiq among MPs signing deal to back Budget 2027 appeared first on Scoop .
