Malaysia is finally rolling out its next-generation MyKad , featuring a new physical design, upgraded chip technology and a total of 53 security features aimed at making the national identity card harder to counterfeit.
The new MyKad will be issued in stages starting 17 September 2026 , with 40 selected National Registration Department (JPN) and UTC locations equipped to print the new card on the same day.
