Built without nails, Durah’s heritage home stands strong after nearly a century

Built circa 1927, the house has survived from an age of kerosene lamps and red dirt roads to the rapidly changing world of today, while retaining much of its original appearance.

Its longevity is a testament to the skill of the craftsmen who constructed it using “pasak”, or wooden pegs, and “tanggam”, a technique in which timber components are carefully cut and fitted together.
