However, Wan Junaidi, who served as the natural resources and environment minister from 2015 to 2018, said new technology and methods were needed to tackle the problem.

"We cannot blame anyone for the haze. As far as I am concerned, the haze agreement is a well thought-out agreement. We have come a long way. What needs to be done is to work out the details on how to combat the haze effectively," he said.
