KUALA LUMPUR - A weak earthquake with a magnitude of 3.4 was detected in Temenggor, Gerik, Perak, around midnight last night. The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the earthquake occurred at 12.06 am at coordinates 5.5 degrees North and 101.3 degrees East. The epicentre was located 9 kilometres (km) northeast of Hulu Perak, Perak, at a depth of 10 km. “The tremors were also felt in the Gerik area, but no tsunami threat was issued,” MetMalaysia said in a statement today. Members of the public who felt the tremors from the earthquake are encouraged to fill out the questionnaire provided by MetMalaysia.
